Annie, known as Anna, was born in June 1860 in Farnworth.1  Anna's father was Joseph Mather and her mother was Elizabeth Kennerley.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Mather and Elizabeth (Betty) Hardman. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Henry, Enock, Lois, Elizabeth and Maggie.  She was the third oldest of the six children.
