Elizabeth Mather

Elizabeth's father was William Mather and her mother was Mary Warburton. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Betty (Elizabeth) Barlow. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Martha, Richard, James, John, Samuel, Mary and Ellen. She had an adopted brother named Thomas.

- In 1851, Elizabeth's mother Mary died in childbirth. Elizabeth stayed with the family, a spinster, to look after the younger children.
