Thomas Charlton Mather

Thomas was born on January 26th, 1839 in Pilkington and his baptism took place on January 26th, 1839 at St. John (Bury).¹²

He had five brothers and three sisters, named Martha, Richard, James, John, Samuel, Elizabeth, Mary and Ellen. He was adopted by William Mather & Mary Warburton. He died at the age of 66 in March 1905 in Bury.³

  Baptised Jan 1839 at Bury St John, Thomas Mather son of William and Mary, but birth registered at Pilkington, Bury as Thomas Charlton Mather with mother "CHARLTON" in 1840. The other children were baptised at Bury St Mary.
  
  There are no other 1838/39 registrations for Thomas, or for a mother Charlton (birth or marriage). This is unexplained with missing birth registration in 1838 and an extra one in 1839.
  
  In 1841, Thomas was aged 2.
