Bould was born in February 1793 in Turton and his baptism took place on February 24th, 1793 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Bould's father was James Mather and his mother was Isobel (Elizabeth) Wilkinson.  His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Mary Dawson. He had four brothers and two sisters, named John, John, James, James, Mary and Nancy.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 1 in March 1794 in Walmsley.  He was buried on March 25th, 1794 in Turton.2
