Betty Mather

Betty was born in June 1787 in Westhoughton and her baptism took place on June 10th, 1787 at St. Bartholomew (Westhoughton).¹

  Date is under a smudge mark, but has to be 9th or 10th June (and looks more like 10)

Betty's father was Robert Mather and her mother was Jane (Jenny) Sale. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Mary Mather. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Lambert, John, Richard, Mary and Catherine. She was the second oldest of the seven children.

General Notes
- In 1851, Betty Mather, unmarrried, aged 64 was at the Turton Workhouse. (This may be the daughter of RIchard and Betty from Bolton).
  
  On 22 June 1823, Betty may have married Joseph Stafford at Deane. Joseph was a Crofter.
