Ann was born on March 4th, 1857 in Bury and her baptism took place on May 24th, 1857 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Bury).1  Ann's father was Joseph Mather and her mother was Sarah Leach.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Mather and Grace Wood. She had eight sisters named Elizabeth, Grace, Mary, Mary, Sarah, Martha, Emma and Susan. She had an adopted brother named Jurshaw.
