Elizabeth's father was James Mason and her mother was Ann Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were James Mather and Tootel. She had four brothers and a sister, named James, John, William, Joseph and Mary.  She was the oldest of the six children. She had a half-sister named Mary.  She died at the age of 86 on January 31st, 1946 in Bolton.²
