Eliza was born in 1800 in Bolton and her baptism took place on October 5th, 1800 at Ridgway Gates Wesleyan conducted by Chris Hopper.1  Eliza's father was John Lomax and her mother was Jane Watson.  Her paternal grandparents were James Lomax and Mary Taylor. She had three brothers and a sister, named William, John, Mary and Maria.  She was the second youngest of the five children. She had two half-sisters named Ann and Sarah.
