Florence was born on November 20th, 1892. Florence's father was Ralph Leyland and her mother was Elizabeth Ann Mather. Her maternal grandparents were James Mather and Esther Pasquill (Pasquell). She had two brothers and a sister, named James, Denis and Ellen. She was the second youngest of the four children.
