William was born in 1846 in Harthill.1   William's father was William Lea and his mother was Catherine Sadler.  His paternal grandparents were William Lea and Anne Kynaston. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, John, Job, Mary and Frances.  He was the youngest of the six children.
