Thomas was born in 1835 in Harthill.1  Thomas' father was William Lea and his mother was Catherine Sadler.  His paternal grandparents were William Lea and Anne Kynaston. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John, Job, William, Mary and Frances.  He was the second oldest of the six children.
