Lavinia was born in October 1864 in Birkenhead.¹

Lavinia's father was Philip Hughes Lawrence and her mother was Mary Bennett. Her maternal grandparents were Jonathan Bennett and Mary Jones. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Philip, Thomas, Emily, Maria, Amelia, Mary, Leah and Flora. She was the seventh oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 25 in June 1890 in Chester.²
