Ellen Kay (Mather)

Ellen was born in October 1874 in Bolton and her baptism took place on January 20th, 1875 at Bolton Holy Trinity.¹²

  There is no birth record with the father MATHER and mother KAY. This is because they were not married untill the following year. Instead they appear to have had Ellen baptised.

Ellen's father was Samuel Mather and her mother was Martha Kay. Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Martha Jordan. She had two brothers and three sisters, named John, William, Hannah, Alice and Martha. She was the oldest of the six children.
