Elizabeth's father was John Jones and her mother was Anne Jones. Her paternal grandparents were John Jones and Anne Hopley. She had six sisters named Anne, Sarah, Mary, Jane, Catherine and Margaret. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 43 in 1894.
