Thomas' father was Albert Edward Jenkins and his mother was Elizabeth Banks.  His maternal grandparents were John Banks and Mary Higson. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John, Willie, Albert, Ethel, Bertha, Mary and Elizabeth.  He died at the age of 90 in February 2005 in Bolton.²
