Mary's father was Edward Jellicoe and her mother was Jane Woodward.  Her maternal grandparents were James Woodward and Ann Williams. She had five brothers and three sisters, named James, John, Joseph, Charles, Edward, Annie, Elizabeth and Priscilla.  She was the youngest of the nine children.  She died at 5 months old in March 1873 in Ness.³
