Peter was born in June 1795 in Warrington and his baptism took place on June 19th, 1795 at St. Elphin (Warrington).1  Peter's father was Peter Jackson and his mother was Sally (Sarah) Mather.  His maternal grandparents were Henry Mather and Sarah Clare. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Henry, James, James, Richard, John, William, Martha, Sarah and Mary.  He was the third oldest of the ten children.
