Peter was born in 1780 in Edgworth and his baptism took place on April 16th, 1780 at Turton Chapel.1  Peter's father was James Isherwood and his mother was Margaret (Peggy) Fairbrother. He had five brothers and six sisters, named William, Henry, Robert, James, Bennett, Mary, Anne, Betty, Alice, Peggy and Deborah.  He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children.
