Jane was born in 1829 in Edgworth and her baptism took place on May 3rd, 1829 at St. Anne (Turton).1  Jane's father was John Isherwood and her mother was Dorothy (Dolly) Bently.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Isherwood and Jane Holt. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Peter, Robert, Ellen, Alice, Andrew and Sarah.  She was the oldest of the eight children.
