Andrew was born in 1844 in Edgworth and her baptism took place on September 4th, 1844 at St. Anne (Turton).1 2  Andrew's father was John Isherwood and her mother was Dorothy (Dolly) Bently.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Isherwood and Jane Holt. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Peter, Robert, Jane, Ellen, Alice and Sarah.  She was the third youngest of the eight children.
