Thomas was born in 1765 in Malpas and his baptism took place on September 6th, 1765 at St. Oswalds (Malpas).1  Thomas' father was Charles Hopley and his mother was Mary Maddock. He had five brothers and a sister, named John, Randle, Karel, Charles, John and Margaret.  He was the fifth oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named James and Sarah.  He died at the age of 6 in January 1771 in Malpas.  His burial was on January 19th, 1771 at St. Oswalds (Malpas).2
