James Hopley

James was born in June 1776 in Malpas and his baptism took place on June 12th, 1776 at St. Oswalds (Malpas).¹

James' father was Charles Hopley and his mother was Sarah Maddock. He had a sister named Sarah. He was the older of the two children. He had six half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, Randle, Karel, Charles, Thomas, John and Margaret. He died at the age of 92 in January 1869 in Malpas.²

- In 1851, James Hopley, aged 76, born Overton was a farmer of 46 acres at Hall a Wood, Malpas. He was with two of his six children William (29), Margaret (28), and also Martha Meredith (28, servant).
