Annie was born in December 1879 in Bolton.1  Annie's father was Edward Greenwood and her mother was Sarah Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Robert Mather and Ann Ainsworth. She had four brothers named Robinson, John, Fred and Herbert.  She was the third oldest of the five children.
