Joshua was born on February 14th, 1796 in Berry Brow and his baptism took place on April 6th, 1796 in Highfield (Independent).1  Joshua's father was Matthew Gledhill  and his mother was Susannah (Susy) Dawson. He had six brothers and two sisters, named James(?), Benjamin, Matthew, Nathan, John, Luke, Esther and Nancy.  He was the third youngest of the nine children.
