Benjamin's father was Matthew Gledhill  and his mother was Susannah (Susy) Dawson. He had six brothers and two sisters, named James(?), Matthew, Nathan, Joshua, John, Luke, Esther and Nancy.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 3 in November 1786 in Berry Brow.  He was buried on November 16th, 1786 in Highfield (Independent).¹
