Ellen was born in January 1832 in Shavington and her baptism took place on January 22nd, 1832 in Wybunbury.1  Ellen's father was Joseph Galley and her mother was Ellen Brereton.  Her maternal grandparents were John Brereton and Ellen Latham. She had five brothers and a sister, named John, Thomas, Joseph, William, George and Mary.  She was the second youngest of the seven children.
