Elizabeth's father was Robert Fisher and her mother was Elizabeth Brereton. Her maternal grandparents were Richard Brereton and (Elizabeth) Ellen Lea. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Lorenzo, Robert, Robert, Joseph, John, William, Margaret and Mary. She was the seventh oldest of the nine children.
