Emma was born on July 20th, 1866 in North Bierley.¹ Emma's father was Edwin Farnell and her mother was Harriet Ambler. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Farnell and Mary Crosland. She had a brother and six sisters, named Alonzo, Mary, Ambler, Mary, Alice, Edith and Lucy. She was the fourth youngest of the eight children. She died at the age of 34 on August 23rd, 1900.
