Betty was born in April 1787 in Berry Brow and her baptism took place on April 8th, 1787 in Almondbury.1  Betty's father was James Crosland and her mother was Sarah Ellam.  Her paternal grandparents were James Crosland and <Unknown>. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Abraham, Thomas, Joseph, James, Mary, Martha, Martha and Sarah.  She was the second oldest of the ten children.
