Beaumont was born in 1862 in Lindley.1  Beaumont's father was Alfred Crosland and his mother was Sarah Ann Drake.  His paternal grandparents were Beaumont Crosland and Sarah (Sally) Brook. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John, Norris, Zachariah, Mary and Harriet.  He was the third oldest of the six children.
