Elizabeth's father was Abraham (Alexander) Crook and her mother was Mary Ann Clegg. Her paternal grandparents were William Crook and Betty Nelson. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Charlotte, Ellen and Margaret. She was the oldest of the six children. She had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Thomas, William, Agnes, Mary, Harriet and Annie. She died at the age of 78 in December 1915 in Salford.¹
