Mary was born in 1828 in Cowpe.1  Mary's father was Abraham Collins and her mother was Ann Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Edmund Mather and Melicent Ashworth. She had a brother and a sister, named Abraham and Elizabeth.  She was the youngest of the three children.  She died at the age of 18 in May 1846 in Rossendale.  She was buried on May 16th, 1846 in Newchurch in Rossendale.2
