Isaiah, known as Josiah, was born in 1834 in Oldham.1  Josiah's father was Abner Buckley and his mother was Sarah Needham.  His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Buckley and Elin (Nelly) Bottomley. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Benjamin, John, Sarah and Betty.  He was the fourth oldest of the five children.
