Thomas' father was James Brereton and his mother was Hannah Morrey.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Brereton and Jane Whittingham. He had five brothers and three sisters, named James, John, George, William, Daniel, Mary, Elizabeth and Ann.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  He died in December 1815 in Bridgemere.  He was buried on December 19th, 1815 in Wybunbury.²
