Mary's father was Joseph Brereton and her mother was Sarah Reay.  Her paternal grandparents were John Brereton and Ellen Latham. She had three brothers and five sisters, named William, George, James, Betty, Hannah, Ann, Sarah and Martha.  She was the third oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 29 in March 1843 in Walgherton.  She was buried on March 3rd, 1843 in Wybunbury.¹
