Margaret's father was Thomas Brereton and her mother was Sarah Jones.  Her paternal grandparents were George Brereton and Margaret Taylor. She had two brothers and five sisters, named George, Charles, Mary, Elizabeth, Maria, Fanny and Sarah.  She was the second oldest of the eight children. She had a half-sister named Margaret.  She died at the age of 17 in February 1842 in Betley.  She was buried on February 20th, 1842 in Betley.²
