Elizabeth was born in 1777 and her baptism took place on November 2nd, 1777 in Wybunbury.1   Elizabeth's father was Samuel Brereton Jnr and her mother was Mary Green.  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Brereton Snr and Mary Whittingham. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, George, Thomas, James, Samuel, Hannah, Mary, Jane and Anne.  She was the second youngest of the ten children.
