Richard was born in July 1803 in Little Bolton and his baptism took place on July 17th, 1803 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Richard's father was John Booth and his mother was Alice Lomax.  His maternal grandparents were James Lomax and Mary Taylor. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Josiah, John, Peter, Robert, James, Elizabeth and Alice.  He was the third youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 63 in April 1867 in Little Bolton.  He was buried in April 1867 at Tonge-with-Haulgh Cemetery.2 3

‌Richard and Nancy were married in a religious ceremony on September 7th, 1825 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by Vicar J Slade and witnessed by Richard Mangnall.4  They had a biological son and a biological daughter, named John and Alice.  They also had two adopted daughters named Eliza and Jane.  There are no more children.
