Beatrice was born in June 1882 in Bolton.1  Beatrice's father was Thomas Ashcroft and her mother was Mary Davenport.  Her paternal grandparents were James Ashcroft and Mary Longworth. She had six brothers and a sister, named James, John, Reuben, Walter, Henry, Thomas and Gertrude.  She was the second youngest of the eight known children.
