John was born on August 29th, 1874 in Utah (UT).¹ John's father was Edward James Arthur and his mother was Catherine Bennett. His maternal grandparents were Cap John Bennett and Jane Roberts. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Edward, Irvin, Benjamin, Catherine, Jane, Marrian, Margeret, Eleanor, Gladys and Emily. He was the fourth oldest of the eleven known children. He died at the age of 69 on August 31st, 1943 in Los Angeles.²
