John Hewitt 
John was born in 1876 in North Walsham, Swanton, Norfolk, England. John's father was Robert Joseph Hewitt and his mother was Charlotte Catherine Girdlestone. His maternal grandparents were George Girdlestone and Mary Ann Doughty. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Robert, Earnest, James, Agnes, Beatrice, Alice Maud, Lily, Agnes and Matilda Ellen. He was the oldest of the ten children.-
