William was born on February 23rd, 1758 in Baconsthorpe, Norfolk, England . William's father was Zurishaddai Girdlestone and his mother was Sarah Hewitt. His paternal grandparents were John Girdlestone and Sarah Ford. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Zurishaddai, John Lang, Theophilus, Samuel Rainbow, Sarah and Elizabeth Ann. He was the third youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 63 on March 19th, 1821 in Bromley, Kent, England. He was buried on March 19th, 1821 in Bromley, Kent, England.-
