Jane was born in November 1641 in Wellington, Shropshire and her baptism took place on December 5th, 1641 in Christ Church, Wellington, Shropshire.  Jane's father was John Cookson and her mother was Jane Pekah.  Her paternal grandparents were Matthew Cookson and Catherine Unknown. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Matthewe, William, William, Edward, Humphrey, Margaret, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth and Jane.  She was the second oldest of the eleven children.
