Sam Butler

Sam was born in 1889 in Bramley, Leeds, Yorkshire.¹ Sam's father was Joseph Butler and his mother was Mary Braithwaite. His paternal grandparents were William Butler and Mary Arendall. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Harry, Isaac, Willie, John, Sarah, Ellen, Annie and Louie. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
