Mary Gibson 
Mary was born in 1845 in Friockheim Mill Gate, Kirkden, Angus, Scotland.1 Mary's father was James Gibson and her mother was Margaret Bruce Hardie. Her paternal grandparents were Alexander Gibson and Isabella Greig; her maternal grandparents were James Hardie and Christian Thomson. She had three brothers and three sisters, named David, William, James, Ann, Jean and Agnes. She was the second youngest of the seven children.-
