Philip de Courtenay

Philip was born in 1277 in Oakhampton, Devonshire, England.¹ Philip's father was Baron of Okehampton Hugh de Courtenay and his mother was Alinore le Despencer. His paternal grandparents were Sir John de Courtenay and Isabelle De Vere. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named 9th Earl of Devon Hugh, Thomas, John, Robert, Eleanor, Avelina, Margaret, Isabel, Egeline, Alice and Elizabeth. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children.
