Sir John was born on July 26th, 1224 in Okehampton, Devonshire, England.1 Sir John's father was Baron of Okehampton Robert de Courtenay and his mother was Mary de Redviers. His paternal grandparents were Seigneur de Courtenay Renaud II de Courtenay and Hawise de Courcy. He had a sister named Hawise. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 49 on May 3rd, 1274 in Ford Abbey, Devonshire, England.1 -
