9th Earl of Devon Hugh was born on September 14th, 1273 in Okehampton, Devonshire, England.1 9th Earl of Devon Hugh's father was Baron of Okehampton Hugh de Courtenay and his mother was Alinore le Despencer. His paternal grandparents were Sir John de Courtenay and Isabelle De Vere. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Philip, Thomas, John, Robert, Eleanor, Avelina, Margaret, Isabel, Egeline, Alice and Elizabeth. He was the third oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 67 on December 23rd, 1340 in Exeter, Devonshire, England.1 -
