Franklin "Francis" was born about 1836 in Northy Carolina. Franklin "Francis"'s father was Weldon " William" Goode Foster and his mother was Zilphia "Silpha" Jarvis. His paternal grandparents were Zenas G. Foster and Dinah Taylor. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Henderson W., Alexander, John H., Joseph Henry, Hannah, Mary Ann and Edith Edney. He was the third oldest of the eight children.-
