William Carter

William was born on October 28th, 1591.¹ William's father was William Carter Jr. and his mother was Mary Anscell. His paternal grandparents were William Carter Sr. and Elizabeth Glover Cranfield; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Anscell and Elizabeth Wheatley. He had seven brothers and nine sisters, named Thomas, Nicholas, William, Oliver, Robert, John, William, Anne, Winifred, Mary, Amye, Elizabeth, Temperence, Anne, Ursula and Alice. He was the fifth youngest of the seventeen children.
